Every Thought of Trying?

I often wonder why there are not more successful people in this world.
And I also often wonder how many people ask that question.
Perhaps the answer can be found in the amount of people who are successful. I say this because when you start to ask yourself uncomfortable questions you start getting very useful answers.

Now the reason why I bring this up is to do with the title of this post, I mean really, have you ever thought of trying? Some people will tell you, and this is immortalized in Star Wars;

"Do, or do not, there is no try",
Yoda.

However lets take baby steps. Now I am no expert, and I certainly do not profess to have always succeeded in everything that I have turned my hand too, however all too often we do not give ourselves credit when it is due.
We never take the time to reward ourselves or pat ourselves on the back. The same as a child needs reassurance or a pup needs it too, we need to give ourselves that same reassurance.
If we do not first love ourselves then the journey we are on may all be for naught.

Now back to what I was saying, I may not have succeeded in everything that I have set out to do, I certainly did not fail. I am not speaking with a forked tongue, all I am saying here is that just for the mere fact that I attempted to succeed at something is a success in it self. You see if I had not even given what ever a go, then I would never have known, and that would be a failure.

I have had my share of great success also, I had a big enough why at the time. When I was in my 5th form year at Waihi College, our Principle at the time was a man by the name of Harry Sheppard. It was about mid term, we had just had our midterm exams. Now I was by no means a scholar at school, I did what I had to do to get through. I bombed out in my mid terms for Math, not long after that Harry Sheppard said to me;
"Andrew I am not sure why you are bothering to sit School Cert. Math as you are not going to pass it"
In case you haven't realised this was a now a big WHY.
I took the action I needed to take to prove Harry Sheppard wrong, long story short, Math was my best mark that year, far from failing, Almost gaining an elusive A!!

So now the reason I bring all of this up is because I wonder how many of you out there have ever actually given something a go? Big ups to you if you have, lets take it further, if you have indeed given something a try, did you succeed? Or did it beat you?

Lets go another step further, if it did in fact beat you, did you give up? Or did you push on a try again? You see this is something that would define a success from a failure. Did you get up again or did you stay down.
"Success is getting up at least once more than you have been knocked down".

Look at it like this, how long do you give your average baby to learn to walk before you tell them that they are out of chances and that they will never walk?
That's absurd right? You are going to let that baby try until he or she gets it.

That is all that separates winners from losers, the haves from the have not's.

Let me write that again;

That is all that separates winners from losers, the haves from the have not's.

I made a comment on my facebook page tonight and it was along the lines of this;

I wonder if people realise that success is a Choice.

We are all a product of our environment, we always get what we focus on.
"What you sow, so shall you reap".

We are all where we are in life right now due to the thoughts we have had and the choices we have made.
If you want to be successful, you simply decide that that is what you want, then you take the necessary action to take you toward your goals and your success, what ever that may look like for you.

Success is a choice, it really is that simple.
